Fred Edwards was born in Torquay, Devonshire, England, on August 13, 1868. He came to the Bitterroot Valley of Montana in 1886. His first year there he freighted vegetables from the Bitterroot over the mountains to Gibbonsville. He built the first schoolhouse in the Sula area. In 1897 he proved up on a homestead near Sula. He later expanded this homestead and acquired a second homestead south of Corvallis. He died September 11, 1943. From the description of Fred Edwards reminiscence,...
